Dear LJ,

I love my fandom.  It's not easy for a 40 something white  woman to admit to her friends and family that she is obsessed with Korean pop bands.  As a child I faced religious persecution.  As a grown up I've cringed as my co-workers bashed anyone who wasn't white.  I got into fandom as a fluke, and I'm loving every minute of it.  I enjoy reading and writing fan fiction.  I like drawing, doing macros and posting pics and discussing music with you all.  But it distresses me when I go to read some news or see a video of a group I like and find people trashing them so rudely.

Why can't we; a group of people from all faiths, races, and walks of life, enjoy our hobbies without being haters?  Do you want someone to continuously say bad things about the celebrities you like?  What ever happened to diplomacy?  Come on now!  I know you guys are young, but don't let your teenage / young adult angst get in the way of your judgment.

If you really and truly hate a band with a passion, it doesn't matter.  Your cruel words are unnecessary.  Instead of writing  "I think they are shitty and should just quit,"  why not say.  "I'll pass, not interested."  It shows they are not your "cup of tea" without being nasty.

Do you want to be like those sad people who made Jay Park go home?  Do you want to stoop to their level? Maybe that seems harsh, but as someone who supports all of K pop ( yes I do; I support the whole genre even if i don't follow each individual band), I'm finding it hard to remain calm as one of my favorite groups is continually put down.

I could be a bitch and trash your bands.  Would you like that?  I can be pretty nasty if I so chose.  But instead, I remain calm and let it pass.  I would like to believe that there is some amount of maturity out there.  Don't disappoint me ladies and gentlemen (yes, fanboys, I know you are out there).

Let's unite together as intelligent people who enjoy all aspects of Asian pop music.  Wish the new bands luck, and if you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all.

Remember:  Yoochun is always watching you.....

Mazeltov, abi gezunt!

I hear you!
I'm not into kpop, only Jpop and I mean Johnnys, but I can relate.
I'll be 30 the next month and I suppose it's because of our age. I'd hate to say I'm an elitist about the age but I never came accross fangirls my age who bash people. We're so over that. I mean I don't want to rush those girls to grow up, I know now how it's hard to live above 25, but I'd like them to stop being bitches, cause that's only what they are.

I agree. I'm not into Johnny's or Jpop at all, but I wouldn't dream of bashing them or anyone else for that matter. It's so stupid. It's supposed to be for fun, but some people just have to ruin it. I'll never know why. Thanks for commenting.

Sadly, that's not true. I was very disappointed to learn that most of the 'hottests', who went to 2PM's conference and were rude and misleading about it, happened to be not kids (as I initially assumed), but adults, incl. over 30yo ones.

Maybe it's different for int'l vs korean though.
My older kpop junkie friends are very chill and reasonable, while younger ones do tend to go a bit overboard w/ their emotions.
